Subjective vs. Objective Requirements

Subjective Requirements:

  • Based on personal opinions, preferences, and feelings.
  • Often qualitative and open to interpretation.
  • Examples: User experience (UX) preferences, design aesthetics, user satisfaction.

Objective Requirements:

  • Based on factual data, measurable criteria, and verifiable conditions.
  • Often quantitative and specific.
  • Examples: System performance metrics (response time), compliance with technical standards, specific functionality features.

Key Difference:

  • Subjective requirements are about how something feels or appears to users, while objective requirements are about concrete, measurable outcomes or specifications.
